Ubuntu It is a project that explores the private from the public, the global from the local and the individual from the collective. “I am human, through the reflection of your humanity in me”
«Ubuntu is one of those beautiful words that can encompass more meanings than we can grasp. As a word, it comes from the Zulu and Xhosa languages and obeys a philosophy in which sharing allows humanity to connect empathetically, where individuality is based on the collective» (David Barro).
Based on this concept, we created a work fragmented into 36 sectors located in 36 different parts of the world, connecting 36 people (the collectors who acquired each fragment) with those places. The collector is interpreted as a philanthropist, a patron of the project who, with his individual action of collecting, makes possible the creation of a mural in public space, in the collective, in another part of the world.
A global journey between March 2022 and April 2023, which examines the way we as human beings inhabit the world.
The project was included in the publication UBUNTU, a self-published edition of 500 copies only available in our online store.
