A refuge is a place where one can seek shelter and security, protecting oneself from outside hostility.
We propose to transform this forgotten transit space, changing its meaning through color and typography.
The word "REFUGIO" surrounds pedestrians who cross the shadow of the dock to access the upper plaza.
CONTEXT
We are faced with a very complex space, composed of a multitude of walls, windows and a roof that obscures the entire support.
This civil engineering work also consists of a series of pillars and beams that give the space a hard and anonymous identity, but at the same time give it a distinguishing feature compared to any other support.

THE INTERVENTION
We worked tripling the word REFUGIO, superimposing its three colours. The combination of its transparencies generates six tones that are repeated rhythmically thanks to the verticality of the Fixture typeface, by Sudtipos type Foundry.
The rhythm is altered by the peculiarities of each character, such as the leg of the R, the horizontal bar of the G or the arms of the F and the E.
The intention is to generate an abstract colour space starting from something concrete like the word, which envelops and cleans the dock, so that the user of the space literally enters into the work. To do this, we unfold the structure, omitting the three-dimensionality of the space, reducing it to a single two-dimensional plane on which to insert the word, and then folding it again. Analysed separately, the roof and the walls are transformed into an abstract skin of geometric bands of colour that provide rhythm and light to the space. Working with the unfolded architecture, we can intervene on the walls and ceiling, applying literality to the word: making a refuge with the word REFUGE.
