“LORIZON” is a seed project that seeks to generate a new memory of use in urban space, recovering the rue Garnier Pagés, in Fort de France, Martinique, for pedestrians.
The street, declared a cultural hub in 2019, became a dead end with the pedestrianisation of Rue de la Republique, perpendicular to Garnier Pages, leaving it flooded by vehicles using it as a car park.
The project, promoted by the Abitē association in consensus with the street's merchants' association, is the first phase of the intervention in the urban sequences of the Vandanvil project, which aims to restore heritage value to the centre of Fort de France.

DESIGN
The proposal is based on the word “LORIZON” (Horizon in Creole), which emerged from a dynamic with the neighbors and merchants on the street.
The word has a special meaning on the island because of the ever-present horizon line and because it is the place from which all the people who make up the island's multicultural fabric come. For people who come from different places, Martinique is the meeting point. Here, the differences of each person mix with those of others to generate new identities with their own character, building a new horizon called home.
The work has the phrase “EN NOU AY ANSANM” (“let's go together” in Creole) written on it.

Design adapted to the support.
