HEART

MADRID, SPAIN

2024

The heart is the vital organ that drives the life cycle in the human body. It acts as a pump, circulating blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to all cells and tissues. This continuous cycle of heartbeats ensures the body functions properly, maintaining overall health and well-being.

The Villaverde Alto Market is the heart of the neighborhood, pulsating with the life and energy of its community. It's a hub where neighborly ties and social interaction are strengthened, preserving the neighborhood's rich cultural heritage.

The Market, like the heart, is the vital center where small merchants maintain the local economy of the neighborhood, creating a continuous cycle that minimizes environmental impact and promotes sustainability.

DESIGN

We work from an enveloping composition, which runs linearly along the four facades of the Market.
It is the word HEART, representative for the merchants and neighbors, that, in some way, dresses the building.

Elevation unfolded with the design adapted to the support

Participación

The word HEART emerged from previous surveys conducted with market users; sellers, buyers and neighbors of the market.

Previous surveys conducted with merchants and customers at the stall.
